As 2015 comes to an end, it is time to look back on what the Internet overly obsessed about to the point that we all got tired of it. This year was no disappointment.

1. The Dress

February 26 was the day humanity lost their damn mind over a picture of a dress. In fact, just go up to a random person today, and ask them, “What color was the dress?” and they will probably roll their eyes while mumbling blue and black or white and gold.

In fact, the dress even has its own Wikipedia page, which calls it a viral phenomenon. This dress ruined more friendships and relationships than a game of Monopoly, but what was scary about it is that it wasn’t a troll. People were dead serious when they saw it as blue and black or white and gold.

It all started with an innocent Tumblr post of the dress with the caption “guys please help me — is this dress white and gold, or blue and black? Me and my friends can’t agree and we are freaking the f*** out,” but little did the world know that it would become the most viral obsession to happen in 2015, unleashing what will forever be known as #Dressgate.

Unless you lived in a remote cave with zero access to any form of technology, you knew about the dress, whether you wanted to or not, because there wasn’t a social media site that it wasn’t trending on and even major news mediums, such as the New York Times, debated it. It was an unavoidable topic.

By the way, it was blue and black.

2. Pizza Rat

Alicia Keys wasn’t kidding when she said, “if you can make it here, you can make anywhere,” but it doesn’t have to only apply to humans. In September, a rat became famous in NYC for carrying a full slice of pizza all the way down a flight of subway stairs.

The video was posted on YouTube and became an instant hit as people saw it as an inspiration to “believe in your pizza dreams.”

And yes, it did become a sexy Halloween costume.

3. Left shark

Katy Perry was expecting to blow the crowd away with her Super Bowl halftime performance, but it was really the left shark dancer that was “living the teenage dream.” During Katy Perry’s number, the dancer on the left, dressed in a shark costume, was clearly dancing less in sync than the right shark.

4. Hotline Bling

People were singing this catchy song by the popular rapper Drake (or forever in our hearts as Jimmy from Degrassi) since the summer but it became even more popular after he released a music video to go along with it.

“I know when that hotline bling/that can only mean one thing” … parodies, it means parodies. Drake’s dance moves in the video were paired with other songs, people edited the video to have Drake holding objects, and, of course, his dance moves were used as reaction gifs.

5. Straight Outta Compton

This is what happens when you make a rap movie with a logo that would make people look tougher than they are. After the promotion of the film took off, people started creating their own version of “straight outta _____.” It even became a Snapchat filter based on location.

6. Why you always lying?

This video will never not be funny because it can be used for so many everyday situations that involve talking to people. Every time someone says an obvious lie, like when your professor says, “I’ll have your test graded by the end of the week,” you can just break out in song. Thank you, Nicholas Frazier!

No one really knows where this meme came from, but all of a sudden this year, you started seeing this creepy looking frog inserted in random places all over the Internet.

8. Deez Nuts

It really isn’t that hard anymore to become a vine star. WelvenDaGreat posted a video of himself replying to “what came in the mail today” with “Deez nuts.”Since then, people have been using that for a caption, but what is really funny about this is there is an actual presidential candidate called Deez Nuts. No joke.

9. Donald Trump’s hair

Speaking of president candidates, Donald Trump has been making the news all year for his provocative political statements, but what we all are really focusing on is his hair. If you really look at something long enough, it will look like his hair, I guarantee it.

10. Starbucks Red cup

Starbucks declared its allegiance to Satan this holiday season because instead of having a cup with Christmas pictures on it, it decided to be all red. Forget the decorations on the windows, the Christmas coffee blend, its ornaments, and basically, its entire atmosphere that celebrates Christmas, Starbucks clearly hates Christians.

Considering the obsession over the red cup, it is clear that Christmas is not the holiday to mess with. On the bright side, if it really bothers you that much, you could head over to Dunkin Donuts and get yourself a white cup with a wreath on it.
