“If you had a friend you knew you’d never see again, what would you say? If you could do one last thing for someone you love, what would it be? Say it. Do it. Don’t wait. Nothing lasts forever.” –One Tree Hill

Close your eyes and think about these questions: Where will you be in 10 years? Will you still have the same friends? Did you end up where you wanted to be? Maybe, 10 years is a bit exaggerated. How about in four years? Did you grasp every great chance you could? Did you make the most of everything?

This post isn’t about politics or about changing the world. It’s about knowing you can achieve your dreams four years from now. It’s about knowing that your idealistic vision of your future can be realistic if you really try. It’s about knowing that giving up won’t get you very far.

This life is really short, and if you haven’t heard this already, you don’t make it out alive. I’m sure you’ve heard of the phrase “you only live once.” It’s a bit overused, but the meaning behind it is unfathomable. You will have so many chances in your life to excel at what you do, but it’s strictly up to you if you want to take it or not. What if NASA didn’t take the opportunity to finally send the rover onto Mars (the only reason I’m using this reference is because it’s one of the most current news)? One little step can make a big difference in your own life or maybe even in someone else’s.

Ten years from now, make sure you don’t have regrets. Do the craziest things (not too crazy), but make your life worthwhile, because you never know what can happen tomorrow. Four years from now, I see myself graduating with a BA in Journalism and Mass Communication; maybe that will be one step closer to making my life intact. I’m not saying that your plans won’t change, but don’t let your big dreams die.

This post is motivation for all those out there struggling to find their place in life, struggling to find a purpose. Just know that everything will be okay. Have a dream, work hard, and make it come true.

“Make a wish, and place it in your heart. Anything you want, everything you want. Do you have it? Good. Now believe it can come true.” –One Tree Hill
