Writes everything down on the board
Attendance isn't required
Gives you the question bank for the exams
Cons: Tests are still difficult
No online notes
If you don't go to class, you won't pass the tests
Cons: Don't bother attending his class unless you bincoculars and a hearing aid. His first test has a curve alright, your grade does not reflect how correct you are, the TA's go through and say this sorry SOB is gonna get a D and this one will get a C, this class is bogus avoid it as best you can it does nothing but kills your GPA.
Cons: He does not like technology so you can't really read his handwriting and sometimes can't hear him.
I liked him!
Cons: you need to buy the book in order to work some of the homework
GREAT CLASS!! study examples in your notes about specific topics i.e. Great Depression theories or Consumption theories...they will be on the test!
Makes you think
Cons: Difficult test
Overall I really enjoyed listening to Prof. Clark's lectures. He taught me many useful things. The tests are extremely hard and are graded by the TA's. My TA was Chinese and couldn't speak great English. I would have points taken off of exams because I would use the exact words listed on they key. After every test I would stop by Prof. Clark's office hours and he would usually give me credit for the problems the TA's counted off points. Great professor but hard class.
knowledgeable,
keeps focus,
very friendly at office hours,
Can ask TA for answers to quizzes beforehand,
lots of tools for success
Cons: Difficult Exams (cannot be overstated)!!!!!!!!!!!
Clark is extremely knowledgeable and a fantastic teacher. Tells several funny stories. Attending every lecture is crucial to success in the class. The tests are extremely difficult. No curve. To prepare for the tests there is free tutoring with Action tutoring, TA office hours, and study sessions so the class is manageable.
Cons: Dr Clark is SO boring and dry. he writes on the chalkboard and it is hard to understand because he tries to write big enough for everyone in the lecture hall to see and runs out of space. talks very quietly and monotone.
Cons: The discussion class was not nearly as fun with the TA. There were quizzes periodically in the discussion that you have to study for, but that's all.
I loved the lectures by Dr. Clark, but I hated the discussion section with a TA and the ridiculously hard tests.
Cons: He isnt very good with technology so when the microphone doesnt work you can forget trying to hear him from the back of the lecture hall.
Cons: He once put a vocab word to define from the second part of class on the first exam. His hand writing can be hard to read sometimes
He is a good professor, do not worry about having him.
Cons: Writes on the board with chalk so its hard to read being in such a large classroom, You have to be willing to put a lot of time and effort to earn a good grade and meet with the T.A's as frequently as you can
Difficult class, but you if you stay on top of making sure you understand everything once it has been taught any one will do fine
Cons: its boring
work hard!
Cons: Hard class.
Clark is great, watch out for discussion TAs.
Cons: None
Cons: Your grade depends on whether or not you use the right words on the test. Dull lectures.
Tries to make the class extremely hard for what it really is. I suggest learning the concepts before it is time to review for a test. This way when you go to review you can review TERMINOLOGY and how things are said so you can receive full credit on questions that you explain.
As he writes, he will speak what he is writing which is helpful to those who are not sitting up front. (Tip 1, Sit up front!) He writes, and writes, and writes, so be prepared to take a lot of notes and write down EVERYTHING he has on the board.
He repeats things over and over again to help you memorize it.
6 quizzes which are given ahead of time so you should be able to make 100 on each quiz.
(Tip 2, get a good TA. You will have a much higher chance of success. I've heard Brian Piper is really good. I had Chen Wu- he was a nice guy, but an awful teacher. It was very hard to understand Chen and his handwriting was almost impossible to read.)
Overall, I made a "B".
Cons: I'm not going to lie, this is a tough class and be prepared to study a lot and seek tutoring if needed, or you will fail this class. You have to make sure you understand the concepts when it comes to the graphs, not just memorize something - that will get you no where in here. For key term questions, write down EVERYTHING you know. The TA's love to take off points.
Material is rushed and it feels like information is just being crammed down your throat, but don't panic, instead seek help. (Tip 3, seek tutoring ASAP if you don't understand something. I recommend Action Tutoring, provided free by the University. Without that, I would had failed this class miserably.)
